Where Filipinx American health leadership takes shape
CYFAM programming runs year-round and spans the full arc of a health career, from a first-generation student wondering whether medicine is possible to an attending physician looking for a community that understands the road they took. Everything below is open to members, and most of it is open to anyone who shares our mission.
New here? Start with a General Meeting.
Every 2nd Wednesday, 5:30–7:00 PM PT. Virtual and open to the public.

7th Annual CYFAM Conference
Our flagship gathering brings students, trainees, physicians, and community partners together for workshops, a research symposium, cultural programming, and the connections that carry people through the rest of the year. Hosted in partnership with Filipinx Americans in Medicine (FAM) at UC San Diego and PUSH.

CYFAMilya Mentorship Program
CYFAMilya pairs pre-medical and medical students with residents and attending physicians in a pamilya structure built for the long haul. Mentors complete a brief interview so that pairings reflect how each person actually mentors.
Next session October 18
Power Hour
Formerly Power 20. Each session spotlights one resident or attending and their specialty, with room for candid questions about the path, the lifestyle, and what it took to get there.

Research Symposium
Held during the Annual Conference, the symposium gives Filipinx American trainees a venue to present original work with peer and faculty judging.
Next session September 21
Professional Development Series
A recurring series on the skills health careers rarely teach directly: leading a team, working across difference, and building something that outlasts your term. Sessions count toward the professional development requirement for national leaders.

SI-LAB: Storytelling and Impact Lab
SI-LAB, from the Filipino word for spark, is CYFAM’s creative sandbox for culturally resonant health communication. We turn medical and public health topics into messages that actually reach Filipinx American communities.
How it works
Sessions run like a lab meeting. One or two people bring work in progress, no slides required, and the group works through it together. A six-step process, adapted from design thinking, carries a project from the question that sparked it through to what the organization learns from it.
What you can make
Infographics, videos, webinars, podcasts, social campaigns, and public service announcements. A playbook with format-specific tools is in development.
Who it is for
Trainees, clinicians, and community members. Built for time-limited involvement, so you can bring one campaign or one episode, see it through, and step away when rotations call. Come with a project or come to learn.
Next night October 24
Discord Game Nights
Low-stakes, camera-optional time with people who get it. Past events have included a virtual escape room.
Programming runs through our national committees, and every one of them is open to new members. Come to a General Meeting to see it all at once, the second Wednesday of each month, 5:30–7:00 PM PT. Register at cyfam.org/gm
