Public Code of Conduct

The Council of Young Filipinx Americans in Medicine (CYFAM) is committed to fostering a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for participants at all virtual and in-person events. By participating in a CYFAM event, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and comply with the Event Attendee Agreement (if applicable) and other applicable CYFAM policies.
Expected Conduct
Participants are expected to:
Professionalism & Respect: Treat others with respect, professionalism, and integrity. Communicate respectfully and constructively.
Inclusivity & Collaboration: Support learning, networking, and meaningful discussion while remaining mindful of diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences.
Compliance: Follow instructions from event organizers, moderators, volunteers, and venue staff. Comply with applicable laws, venue policies, platform terms of service, and CYFAM policies.
Privacy & Personal Boundaries: Respect the personal boundaries of others. Do not share another participant's personal information, photographs, or personal stories without permission.
Prohibited Conduct
The following behavior is prohibited:
Harassment and discrimination: Harassment, discrimination, bullying, intimidation, or retaliation of any kind, including offensive, abusive, hateful, discriminatory, or sexually explicit language or content.
Disruptive behavior: Excessive interruptions, disorderly conduct, or interfering with presentations, discussions, or networking activities.
Safety and security: Threats of violence, physical aggression, or other unlawful conduct, including possession or use of illegal substances during a CYFAM event. Unauthorized access to accounts or meetings, and sharing malicious links or files, are also prohibited.
Privacy and misrepresentation: Impersonating another individual, misrepresenting your identity or affiliation, or recording, livestreaming, photographing, screenshotting, or distributing event content or participant information without express CYFAM permission.
Unauthorized promotion: Advertising, soliciting, or promoting products, services, or other commercial activities without prior CYFAM approval.
Event Etiquette
Participants are encouraged to:
Arrive on time and participate in good faith.
Stay attentive and give others space to speak and contribute.
Silence devices or mute microphones when appropriate.
Follow venue rules and safety procedures during in-person events.
Use appropriate display names, profile images, backgrounds, and chat features at virtual events.
Help maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and professional environment.
Reporting Concerns
Participants who experience or witness activity that may violate this Code of Conduct are encouraged to notify a CYFAM organizer, moderator, or designated event representative as soon as reasonably possible. Reports will be reviewed promptly and handled as appropriate.
Enforcement
CYFAM reserves the right to take any action it deems appropriate to protect the safety, well-being, and integrity of its events and participants. Depending on the circumstances, such action may include a verbal or written warning, removal from an event without refund (if applicable), restriction from participating at future CYFAM events, or referral to venue security, law enforcement, or other appropriate authorities when warranted.
